M.Sc. Microbiology


Microbiology is considered to be the mother of research in all biological sciences including biochemistry, genetics, evolution, biotechnology, herbal formulations etc. Microorganisms are determinants of human health and the source of critical material for medical and industrial use. Genetic engineering and manipulations too, rely on microbial technologies and microbial genes for carrying out modifications that improve crops, breeds of livestock, and synthetic feedstock. In agriculture and food technology, the role of microbes is also very important.

This department is well-equipped with molecular biology equipments, like PCR, Thermal Cycler, Electrophoresis and Gel documentation System and a good collection of microbial organisms. The department has well qualified, experienced and talented faculty specializing in various fields of microbiology including fermentation technology, agro-microbiology, food and dairy microbiology, medical microbiology, environmental microbiology and molecular microbiology.

Our expertise extends to the fields of haematology, immunology, clinical pathology, biochemical and molecular diagnosis, histopathology & cytology, blood-banking technology, genetic error analysis, molecular pathology, biochemistry & microbiology, serology etc. The department has highly qualified and experienced medical and paramedical faculty members. Admission Criteria

B. Sc. (Botany, Zoology, and Chemistry) or B. Sc. (Microbiology /Medical Microbiology/ Biotechnology / Genetics / Industrial Microbiology) or B. Sc. MLT/MM with minimum 45% marks.
